Suggesting headings

What this does

Task menu ▸ Analyze ▸ Suggest Headings

For long texts with no structure: the model looks for the points where a new section begins in substance and proposes a subheading for each.

Select at least two paragraphs. With fewer, the add-in says: "Please select at least two paragraphs."

The result window

You get a list of the suggestions. Each row says what would happen:

• Heading – above "start of text…" – the heading would be newly inserted.
• Heading – replaces "Existing heading" – an existing heading would be replaced.

Click a row and Word jumps to that spot in the document. That way you judge the suggestion in context instead of judging the suggested wording on its own.

Select all and None set the ticks quickly; Insert applies the ticked headings. At the end you are told how many were inserted and how many skipped.

When nothing is found

"No section boundaries were found in this text." – the text is either too short or stays on the same topic throughout. It then does not need subheadings.
